AI is a Tool, Not a Thought Leader

Let’s get one thing straight—AI isn’t here to replace your expertise. It’s here to help you articulate it more efficiently. But if you’ve ever felt like AI-generated content sounds meh, generic, or just… not you—that’s because you’re using it backwards.

So many people start with AI and expect it to do the thinking for them. Wrong move.

The magic happens when you start with YOU—your insights, your voice, and the way you break things down for your audience. Then? You let AI do what it does best: polish, expand, and help you show up consistently without losing your personality.

Enter The "You First" AI Framework—the approach I’ve been using for myself and my clients since day one (I just didn’t have a fancy name for it).

Step 1: Your Expertise Comes First (Not AI)

Before you even open ChatGPT, you need to pull from the things that only you can bring to the table:

  • Your knowledge nuggets – The insights that come from years of practice, not a quick Google search.

  • Your unique way of explaining concepts – That analogy you always use with patients that makes things click.

  • Your industry hot takes – The BS myths you hear five times a day because all your patients watched the same viral reel by a fit-fluencer. (Spoiler alert: That’s the content people need!)

  • Your niche’s real struggles – What your patients are actually asking, not just what AI assumes they care about.

💡 Pro Tip: Document patient questions, the rants you go on, or the explanations you find yourself repeating. These are the goldmines of content that AI can help you refine—but only after they come from you.

Step 2: Build a Thought Leadership Bank

Content shouldn’t start with AI—it should start with you documenting your expertise. This means:

Drafting key messages – What do you want to be known for? What’s the core of your brand’s perspective?

Mapping out personal stories – AI can’t replicate your experiences, but it can help shape them into compelling content.

Identifying your signature angles – How do you approach health topics differently from your peers? What’s your take?

Example: If you're a naturopathic doctor specializing in hormone health, don't just post "5 ways to balance your hormones." AI could write that in seconds. Instead, start with something unique to your approach:

Generic AI Content: “Managing stress is important for balancing hormones.”

Your Expert Take: “If you’ve been told ‘just reduce stress’ to fix your hormones, let’s talk. Stress management is important, but the real issue is how chronic cortisol imbalances mess with your entire endocrine system. Here’s what’s actually happening…”

💡 Pro Tip: AI can’t think like you—but it can help structure and expand on your thoughts once you’ve documented them.

Step 3: Let AI Do What It’s Good At

Once you have your raw thoughts, AI becomes a powerful tool to:

  • Polish: Clean up your rough drafts and refine your writing.

  • Expand: Turn a short thought into a full blog post, email, or carousel post.

  • Create Hooks: AI is great for brainstorming catchy openers and compelling calls-to-action.

  • Repurpose: Take one idea and turn it into multiple formats—blogs, captions, emails, Reels scripts, etc.

But never copy-paste what AI spits out. It should sound like you, with AI as your assistant—not the other way around.

Final Thoughts: AI is Here to Help, Not Replace

If you’ve been frustrated with AI-generated content, it’s probably because you skipped Step 1. You can’t outsource your expertise. But you can use AI to make content creation more efficient, more consistent, and way less overwhelming.

💡 Need AI to sound like you, think like you, and actually help you create content faster? That’s why I created BrandBrain AI—so practitioners like you don’t have to spend hours tweaking generic AI fluff.
